2008- People only see what they see and what they think they see and somewhere in between is the truth

29 05 2008

Bradley Chapman - Rising from the AshesSaturday 24th May was my 38th Birthday. I had dinner with family and friends at Down Hall Hotel in Hatfield Heath. I have been contemplating for a long time, in fact nearly two years. It has been nearly two years on from what i call D-Day, the day my life changed forever, a day from which i knew that i would never be the same man again.

The once fearless, courageous, stop at nothing man that i was is now just a glimmer in my imagination. When i look back at my courage and strength as well as my drive to succeed I realise just how talented i was…… it hurts so deeply when you realise that you did it for the wrong person.

Sometimes being a strong minded and strong willed individual can in fact cause you so much emotional pain and scaring that you may never find that former inner character that you once had, but then again thats why we have a wonderful thing called Mourning..It gives us time to heal !!!!!!!

To love unconditionally, what a beautiful thing. Sometimes when love stares you in the face it can take some 20 years of passing before you realise with a different swing of a golf club you could have hit a hole in one much earlier !

I thought that by creating Million Impossible, it would heal me and my journey would become easier – how wrong i was……

  • Before i could even launch Mi i had no choice but to go into bankruptcy. You could not start from a more embarrassing, pride hitting position
  • I lost everything that i ever owned and was swindled by a very deceptive person
  • I had just the clothes on my back and a loving family
  • I could not be the MD of my own business idea
  • I could not get the financial backing to fund the idea (who really trusts a bankrupt). We could not compete with other heavily invested business networks
  • I did finally raised enough capital to get a prehistoric phase one website launched (Nov 2007)
  • My ex employer launched a hate campaign on consumer websites trying to bring the business down. There was nothing that we could do to stop it. It was awful but we fought through it as good overcomes evil.
  • We tried to break a Guinness World Record that Guinness could not qualify (although we broke the UK record). We had to stop our global attempt to build the largest globally owned enterprise. Now someone is trying to do it in Singapore!
  • If members chose we appointed them as Directors and offered them shares in the business. The concept was fantastic but it was not the right thing to do. Our due diligence should have been better and it just provided my ex employer more ammunition to try to halt our business through making false allegations (he has since gone bust for the second time owing Millions- Shame!). He said things like we were crooks and ran a share dealing shop in Spain. That i was bankrupt and was running a PLC – despite that fact that we had 6 board directors including Fatima Whitbread MBE. He also wrote to the FSA and to BERR anonymously to create an investigation into our operations. What an arsehole you are Mr DC aka Hilliard AKA happycamper AKA Bullshitting Liar with balls the size of raisins . Hopefully now that you have gone bust for the second time you will realise that there is a thing called Karma!
  • I broke my hand a compound fracture and underwent 4 hours (while being awake) of surgery having  wires put in my hand to hold it together, but drove to work the next day and carried on building Million Impossible.
  • I refracted my hand two weeks later and had the wires pulled out then fully plastered (that was PAINFUL)
  • The business centre where we are about to move from received complaints from other tenants because we are too noisy hence about to move
  • BERR did come in to talk to us and went through every operational procedure, bank statements, telesales scripts, interviewed all directors due to the anonymous complaint
  • My mother has been ill with a heart condition but still stands by me every day
  • My father is disappointed with my past personal relationship but continues to stand by me every day
  • We had no money to market the business, we could pay for advertising, we could not afford SEO for all our websites
  • We have worked day and night 7 days a weeks since last September for nothing to little pay
  • We have lived on bread and butter
  • The stress and pressure felt every day by the team is immense but do you know what

WE ARE STILL HERE

2008- Clear Decisive Leadership “Cause and Effect”

23 05 2008

They say that in the absence of a leader any man who stands up will be listened to. So what makes some leaders Inspirational whilst others stutter, flounder and fail to impress their audience and leave such little impact?

I believe that decision making is the most import aspect of being a leader. If are a true leader of people then you have to make decisions and some may have a negative impact on your business or organisation. It takes courage, strength and a very strong will not only to make the decisions a leader has to make but more so dealing with the situations or aftermath that arises from making those decisions.

Every ship leaves a wake and most captains can tell by their wake whether they need to adjust their trim. Some leaders are making key decisions without checking what impact their decisions will have and this is having a disastrous effect on businesses globally..

Although in a small way our business Million Impossible Plc is creating a network of business not just in the UK but lately members have joined from America, China, Singapore, Australia. The main purpose of  the business for members to join together and unite together to support each other and use a united strength to help protect each other in the leadership decisions that we have to make.

Million Impossible already a large number of members in the business coaching arena ranging from experienced Fast Track 100 business coaches such as Emma Thompson www.emmathompson.me.uk through to Stephen Harvard Davis www.assimilating-talent.com but is this enough to help our aspiring Entrepreneurs? Well i do not think so.

You can teach someone “Cause and Effect” but you cannot teach them gut instinct, as i feel this is born in you and you either have it or your don’t! If you don’t then Million Impossible can help you and you in turn can help other members that maybe do not possess your core skills..

Million Impossible is free to join and you can do this now by clicking on www.millionimpossible.com . We hope that our dream of people uniting together will soon become a reality, however like any idea it starts with what we call “FIRE STARTERS” and the first tranche of 500 members that joined Million Impossible are the leaders who have made the decision to join our network and who realise that what we are trying to create will not only benefit our members but will no doubt help their businesses grow….

As a leader can you honestly say that you have made all the decisions today that you needed to make. Well if you are anything like me then you probably sat up into the wee hours last night deliberating and researching and understanding more about the decisions that you needed to make today. Well there were numerous decisions that i had to make last night and i will now share some of these with you. (for those who do not know me these may seem a bit strange)

  1. Should we create a second web site to offer memorable numbers and offer free minutes as part of the package – this process is not as transparent as what we have now www.numbersourcer.com
  2. Should i be really honest on my blog and tell you true thoughts? Well I’m getting there
  3. We move premises in one weeks time and need 4 more staff but can my existing team handle the growth?
  4. I place a large amount of pressure on my existing team, have they realised that i do this to test their ability to perform under continued pressure
  5. With www.millionimpossible.com should we make it a totally free member based proposition?
  6. I have to change accountants but which one?
  7. My board of directors seem to be divided- I have to get them to all point in the same direction
  8. We have to get all of our sites SEO optimised and its going to cost but equally we need an internal server – which one do we do first?

Here is a leadership questionnaire that i found on the net which may be of use to you. Give it to your staff so that you can see what they think of your leadership skills.

LEADERSHIP QUESTIONNAIRE

Please rate the individual’s performance using the scale shown below. Try to make their
strengths and development needs really stand out.

2008 – Business Start ups and their first offices

20 05 2008

The business recently launched the second stage of web site development for www.millionimpossible.com and the new site has been well received and has so many new features including the new an exciting Mi Tube adition……. The business is now 6 months old and we are on the move to a new office.

We had planned by this stage to move to a new office which would enable head count growth to hit 30 then on growing our target of creating 80 new jobs in Essex. The business was behind schedule on stage two launch by 4 weeks and with the 3 weeks delay with our initial launch has meant that we have to make an interim to move to a slightly bigger office to enable to the business to consolidate and strengthen our product offering.

Perhaps we were to ambitious on our targets but targets are what drive businesses forward. Lessons are learned every day and one of the many lessons that we ave learned since we launched is that you cannot control technology – when it works and the systems runs smoothly you can go home at night and relax, when it goes wrong or gets delayed you get stressed to the max!

We report to a board of directors who control and guide the business and like any board they want to see targets met and exceeded wherever possible…. The new office will enable our head count to grow to around 15 heads and we hope to move to our larger premises in about 2-3 months.

The business is at a very exciting stage – THE SIX MONTH STAGE – the stage where many businesses fail!

On one hand we have come so far and the other hand we are behind on our expectations. Million Impossible was created to show that anyone with a dream and limited capital could create a flourishing business. We are no different than most Entrepreneurs and we face all the challenges that comes with growing a business…..

Moving office is like moving home and it can be a very stressful process. So here are out tips for startup businesses that are either going into their first office or looking at their second move…

  1. Business Centres are a great way to start your business and offer easy in easy out terms. Phone lines can be rented with having a big set up cost and most offer broadband as well (but watch the broadband costs the can be dear) you are better of having your own broadband installed.
  2. Deposits are normally a month in advance and a month deposit and you very often start in a centre and if you grow you can increase the size of your office within the centre
  3. Most centres have break out areas and meeting rooms and some have board rooms offering projection systems and plasma screens
  4. Phone calls can be expensive as the centre usually make a big markup..
  5. Some business centres have contacts and access to local funding grants which can help your business grow and some have Innovation Teams and Mentors which can guide and support you.

We totally recommend that Start up business should consider business centres as an option for their first move. We are based in The Essex Technology & Innovation Centre and the have served us very well during our launch/ start up phase….. visit http://www.exdra.co.uk/ for further information on business centres.

Many of the 4 million expected UK Business Start Ups launching in the next 12 months will Fail? – Could their chances of success be increased?

15 05 2008

It is expected that 4.7 million new businesses will be created during the next 12 months most dreaming of becoming the next Sir Alan Sugar, James Dyson or even Sir Richard Branson yet more than 90% will more than likely fail.

The Credit Crunch, poor cash-flow, profitability, lack of knowledge, lack of experience combined with the highest levels of stress that Entrepreneurs endure will in the main result in shattered dreams for theses courageous success driven Entrepreneurs.

Many Entrepreneurs who have failed would say, if I could do it again I would do it very differently, but just what exactly are the most costly mistakes a budding business Entrepreneur makes and if these mistakes were successes then how many of these businesses would have a much higher chance of success?

Many successful Entrepreneurs have at one time or another faced liquidation and even bankruptcy due to not having all the skills and knowledge required to be successful whilst high profile Entrepreneurs like Gerald Ratner have come through their challenges to make a full recovery. The major problem that we face in the UK is that bankruptcy and liquidation is frowned upon where as in the United States it does not carry the same stigma.

What if Entrepreneurs we not afraid to talk about the mistakes that they have made instead passed on this knowledge to other Entrepreneurs, then surely less mistakes would be made, more businesses would succeed and a higher percentage of Start Up Businesses would survive!

An Essex based company has created an Entrepreneur and Business Support website with “Prevention is better than Cure” thought process in mind and their idea just might catch on. The business idea was conceived by Bradley Chapman after he was forced into bankruptcy. He could not run his own business as a bankrupt instead gave the idea to a number of investors who subsequently created a board and a new business was formed.

We spoke with Bradley Earlier today and asked him what exactly is Million Impossible and how does he think it could help UK Entrepreneurs? Bradley said – “I went through a very challenging financial and personal time during 2006/2007 and had hit rock bottom. I have had many successes in business and have made some disastrous mistakes. I class myself as an Entrepreneur and we take risks to achieve our dreams, I believe that if Entrepreneurs stand together and talk about their failures as much as we love to talk about our successes then we could all learn from it.

Everybody talks about becoming a Millionaire and the name just came to me MILLION IMPOSSIBLE. I did not want the site to be the same as the usual corporate happy clappy business networks already in the market, instead I wanted to urge people to be honest and share their pains and challenges with each other so that the business became an Honest Network, which currently does not exist in the UK market. Million Impossible has been created for UK Business Underdogs and I have written a blog on the site which is called the Unknown Entrepreneur because so many Entrepreneurs are unknown because they just do not make it.

I have been honest with who I am and what I have been through. I will face criticism and even investigation due to my bankruptcy, but if the website changes the way that budding and experienced entrepreneurs help each other and together we can help more businesses succeed then we will have achieved hat we set out to do. All businesses you need a catalyst and I hope that my honesty will pave the way for more Entrepreneurs in making their journey that bit easier”.

The Business Underdog web site launched last November and is starting to make waves in the UK Networking arena and offers two levels of membership. You can register and use the site free or become a lifetime member with added benefits.

Members have started to talk honestly about their businesses respecting each others journey. The business offers everything from free advertising and memorable numbers to merchant services and hopes to capture the hearts and minds of the struggling UK Entrepreneur community by constantly delivering an enhanced value proposition to their  members.

2008 – Rachel Elnaugh- “Never Say Die”

13 05 2008

Some people say, some people do. It’s what we do not say that should really be said

Rachel – Thank you for talking to me about my current situation and the advice that you gave me. I feel quite naked right now, but i hope in some way that other entrepreneurs will find the comfort with the fact that they are not alone- and you most definitely personify everything that Entrepreneurs are and could become. You said to me that if I was open and honest about what i had been through that other Entrepreneurs would feel it, because 95% SME are going through similar challenges.

When we met today I asked you how you feel know after Red Letter Days and you said that you have found a kind of peace in your life and have time to reflect on what you actually want to do now.  Some people come in to our lives and go quickly while others leave a mark that lasts forever!

Thank you for your time and advice. Your book is great, I read it front to back last night and i must say it touched me. Appropriately named “Business Nightmares” When Entrepreneurs hit crisis point! Exactly where i and many of Million Impossible members are right now.

Thanks once again Rachel – “Never Say Die”

2008- Million Impossible! Dreamers Dream it,The Thinkers Think It, Entrepreneurs Do It!

12 05 2008

Being an Entrepreneur is not an easy job. We take risks, we face failure more times than we realise success and we go to hell and back trying to achieve it.

The idea behind Million Impossible was very simple. Create a web site and unite Entrepreneurs together in the UK and then who knows the world. Join all our knowledge together and help each other! It would not matter whether you were bankrupt and facing financial disaster or whether your were already in your own eyes “Successful”…. If we could all share our experiences good and bad and be totally honest about them then we all just might have a greater chance of success.

Trying to get people to see your vision is slightly different. Can you imagine pitching to people while you are a bankrupt that you have an idea that could change the way that Entrepreneurs act towards each other. But don’t worry, as an Entrepreneur you will be called “CRAZY” more than once! Well that was 7 months ago and two stages in web site development later Million Impossible does not seem as Impossible as we first thought.

I can tell you this – People will ride on your coat tails of your fame and fortune while you are successful. You will impact many lives for the better, perhaps 1000’s as i have done and yet you can be discard in a second and dropped like a hot potato.

  1. Start Now- Don’t be afraid to start again with or without money you can do it!
  2. Alone- Take comfort that you are not the only one trying for the Impossible Million
  3. Dreams- Follow you dreams and don’t ever give in even when you face your darkest hour
  4. You’re not the first- Talk to people who have been through what you are going through
  5. Celebrate the wins – Remember to smell the roses along the way
  6. Kaizen – instead of passing blame, find a solution
  7. Trust- Trust the ones you love and love the ones you trust
  8. Visualise – See it, feel it, do it
  9. Touch  – Go out and research your market and obtain feedback
  10. MAKE IT HAPPEN – and above all ask for help!

The next stop for Million Impossible is to gain 1000+ members plus and then on to 5000 + members. We need your help in raising our membership numbers. The simple fact is that the greater number of people who register free and use Million Impossible the greater the benefit we will all receive and more Entrepreneurs will have a far greater chance of their business being successful.

PLEASE REGISTER FREE AT WWW.MILLIONIMPOSSIBLE.COM NOW AND TOGETHER WE CAN UNITE AND CREATE STRENGTH IN NUMBERS.

2008-The Unknown Entrepreneur – Just the Beginning!

12 05 2008

Good Morning Entrepreneurs and Readers

My name is Bradley Chapman and today is the 12th May and it is two weeks until my 38th Birthday. I am The Unknown Entrepreneur. I came up with the idea for and created Million Impossible against all the odds and also being bankrupt. I have given up everything to help UK Entrepreneurs unite together and create strength in numbers.

If all our members find the courage to talk to each other in a raw and honest state then we will all learn from each other. If they do not find the courage then we will not. I will face criticism and of course  I will be judged by many, but if my honesty helps Entrepreneurs then i will have succeeded.

During late 2006 and 2007 I went through what was the most painful time in my life with my finances and my personal life in tatters. I had two choices, either go back into the corporate world and take a six figure + job which would have resolved all of my problems or go into bankruptcy and be left with absolutely nothing owning just the clothes on my back.

I decided that enough was enough, that too many Entrepreneurs had failed because they did not have all the knowledge, skills and experience to make it through the challenging path to achieve success. I decided that if i could start with absolutely nothing and become successful once more that it would help other people who are in or have been in my position. Any one can go from Rags to riches even when you have nothing - this is my story!

At the age of 37 I started my life’s dream of creating something that would help people in business and perhaps just perhaps help them in making their business journey just that bit easier. I was bankrupt and could not start or run my own company, so i gave my idea away to 5 investors who subsequently became the Board of Directors at Million Impossible.

I used all of my 37 years of knowledge and ability to pull together what is now www.millionimpossible.com. The idea was simple and that was – To build a web site that was honest, raw and open. A web site where entrepreneurs and people in business could talk, discuss, share and help each other. The more people that joined then the stronger we would all become.

I hoped that Million Impossible’s web site would develop very differently compared to the usual corporate happy clappy “Look at me” based networking Site’s that currently exist. There was only one problem!

PEOPLE ARE JUST NOT COMFORTABLE TALKING ABOUT THE BAD THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO THEM.

I am going to share my Journey with you on the Unknown Entrepreneurs Blog. I am going to share with you what i had to do get Million Impossible off the ground. The restrictions and criticism that i face being a bankrupt. The slander and libelous comments that were made by a competitor who tried to stop Million Impossible going ahead. The insolvency people and how they viewed my involvement with Million Impossible as well as the personal challenges that i am facing every day and the courage, drive, belief, pain and innovation to get Million Impossible this far.

My initial thanks go to the wonderful investors and family who provided the money, the guidance, the faith and corporate structure to enable Million Impossible to be created in the first place- they are the board of directors.

There are also two very important people at Million Impossible who have been with the Board since the start- Heidi Weir and Colin Stroud…. You are my rocks of support…. I love you both and thank you! The road has been bumpy and we have made our fair share of mistake in forming the business. We have learned from our mistakes…We have a long way to go but just for one minute lets look back and see what we achieved in just 6 months.

We have created a Business and Entrepreneur networking website www.millionimpossible.com that is getting used more and more every day. We have built a FREE to advertise online business directory www.businesssourcer.com where all UK businesses can advertise free and we have also created www.numbersourcer.com which offers over 7 million searchable telecoms numbers for businesses starting from £99+ Vat for Life.

We have created something very special for all UK businesses in the short time that we have been live- Thank you both for all your hard work. You really are very special people indeed!

From today – I write in my blog as myself, I hope that you enjoy the reading it.

Regards and Best Wishes

2008 – The Making of an Entrepreneur

9 05 2008

Entrepreneurs start out with a big dream, a goal and a vision of what they hope to achieve or become. We all do it because deep inside us we have a burning desire to go it alone. Many of us have given up well paid jobs and a secure lifestyle to risk everything that we have in order to achieve our visions. I, like many others did this some time ago. I have learned so many things over the years and one constant remains throughout every Entrepreneurs journey toward success.

WE WILL ALL MAKE COSTLY MISTAKES AT SOME STAGE IN OUR JOURNEY

There is a very simple solution to reducing the amount of mistakes that we make and that is to form a collaboration of Entrepreneurs who have the minerals coupled with the courage and conviction to tell others about these mistakes which helps other people from making the same mistake.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT ENTREPRENEURS ARE JUST NOT DOING IT

Each Entrepreneurs journey starts out the same. A great idea, limited budget, hours upon hours of work, most of which unpaid, sacrifice and a bucket load of stress.

  1. An Entrepreneur starts out with an idea- the most exciting stage.
  2. You start to put this idea into practice
  3. Your knowledge is limited
  4. You have to build a trusted supplier/ services network – not knowing who you can trust
  5. You do not have all the knowledge you need at this stage to overcome all challenges you face
  6. You make costly mistakes and silly errors due to not knowing the correct way to do something
  7. You launch your product and you are so proud
  8. You start to grow your business
  9. You face all the costs that you forgot to include in your plan
  10. You did not realise how lonely being an Entrepreneur is
  11. You feel that no one understands you or your business and they just cannot see what you see
  12. You feel frustrated that you cannot move quickly enough
  13. Your stress levels increase every day
  14. You may have given credit and some one you supplied goes bust owing you thousand of pounds
  15. Your cash flow becomes very tight
  16. You have to secure further finances
  17. Your family life suffers
  18. You start to doubt if you can be successful
  19. You realise that this is harder t than you first though
  20. You wanted to be an Entrepreneur and now you start thinking about that easy job you used to have
  21. You do not want to go back to normal work because you are now the master of your own destiny
  22. You control what you do and how you do it
  23. You have an idea and you can do it instantly
  24. You do not have enough money coming in
  25. You realise that you have not seen your family enough
  26. You start to feel totally alone and no one can feel your pain
  27. You talk honestly about what you are really doing to no one
  28. You start to think that actually you cannot do it
  29. You may at this stage have given up the ghost
  30. You could be facing liquidation and even personal bankruptcy

I would guess that 90% of Entrepreneurs that started out with an idea that tried to build a business from an idea failed because they had limited knowledge and you cannot just plug yourself into the mains an upload the information like Keanu Reeves in “THE MATRIX”.

I gave everything up to follow through with an idea that would help Entrepreneurs success rate improve dramatically. I drove away from a high profile corporate role after loosing everything that i had, I went into bankruptcy and then started once again with nothing- but i did have one thing, the thing that i always have had in my heart,  my mind and my soul! I WANTED TO HELP ENTREPRENEURS!

My idea was to create a business where entrepreneurs could come and talk frankly about who they and what they are trying to achieve and ask for and give feedback that would help us all improve our chances of success.  I have been through all the steps above and many more and I’m still trying to achieve my dream and as long as i have the air in my lungs i will not stop.

I started work on my idea last September and i have worked for no income, I am bankrupt, my heart in still in tatters, my mind is still awash with my past actions and i am now stuck between nearly doing the thing i always dreamed of whilst still carrying the huge burden of guilt, pain and anxiety – thinking to myself “Oh my God what has happened to my life”

My idea is called Million Impossible PLC and the web site address is www.millionimpossible.com. On Monday i am going to tell you not only who i am but i am going to start to talk to you all about my actual events in my life. I am going to tell you why i decided to go in bankruptcy, give up everything and then give my idea to an investment team that became the board of Directors of the company that would make all the decisions on the business. I am doing this for one reason only. To help my fellow entrepreneurs to understand one thing.

ITS OK TO MAKE MISTAKES, WE ALL DO! ITS GETTING UP AGAIN THAT DEFINES WHO WE ARE

Don’t Every give in no matter what you face! If you believe you can do it, YOU WILL?

Kind Regards
